What is GFRC Cornice?
GFRC cornice, short for Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete cornice, is designed to replicate the appearance of natural stone while offering a lighter, more cost-effective alternative. Our GFRC cornices are cast in custom molds using CNC-machined profiles, allowing for unmatched precision and fast turnaround times. Available in nearly any color and a range of natural stone textures, this lightweight architectural concrete trim is ideal for both commercial and residential projects.
Typical thickness ranges from ¾” to 3″, depending on your design specifications. Because it’s made from concrete, it’s also naturally fire-resistant and built to endure harsh exterior conditions. Whether you need custom profiles, color samples, or design assistance, our team is here to help—call us at 877-279-9993, email or start a live chat with a product expert.
How is GFRC made?
At Architectural Mall, we manufacture custom GFRC cornice using CNC-cut molds and a detailed multi-step casting process. It starts with a design consultation to determine your exact profile and specifications. Once approved, we use our in-house CNC machines to create precision molds—even for large, highly detailed cornice profiles.
The production process begins with a fine spray of facing mix (without fibers) to ensure a smooth exterior finish. This is followed by multiple layers of fiber-reinforced concrete, rolled and brushed between coats to eliminate air bubbles and ensure structural strength. Finally, we bond the GFRC shell to a lightweight frame that gives it the appearance and strength of solid concrete — but with significantly less weight and easier installation.
Thanks to our in-house mold-making capabilities, we can deliver custom GFRC cornices to your job site with short lead times and exceptional consistency.
What are the benefits of GFRC?
GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) offers a wide range of advantages over traditional concrete and cast stone—making it one of the most versatile materials for architectural cornices.
Key benefits of GFRC cornice:
Lightweight: Up to 75% lighter than traditional concrete, making it easier to transport and install
Strong & Durable: Internal fiberglass reinforcement adds exceptional strength without added weight
Fire Resistant: Naturally non-combustible thanks to its concrete base
Cost-Effective: Mimics the look and texture of natural stone without the high cost
High-Quality Finish: Our face coating process ensures a smooth, void-free surface with no imperfections
Customizable: Can be molded into intricate profiles without compromising structural integrity
Whether you’re designing for a historic restoration or a modern commercial project, GFRC cornices deliver performance, beauty, and long-term durability.
