What is Polyurethane?

High-density polyurethane is a durable, lightweight material designed to replicate the appearance of traditional wood or plaster trim—without the downsides. Made from polyurethane foam formed under pressure, this closed-cell material resists moisture, rot, insects, and cracking, making it ideal for both interior and exterior cornice moulding applications. Our polyurethane crown molding ships pre-primed (two coats) and ready to accept your final paint finish, saving time on the job site. Whether you’re selecting from our standard profiles or need a custom design, we offer thousands of molding options tailored to residential or commercial projects. Most exterior polyurethane cornice moldings are custom-made to order, but we also maintain a range of stocked profiles for quick turnaround. Have questions or need help with specs? Contact us by phone, email,or live chat.

How is Polyurethane Made?

Every polyurethane cornice we produce begins with a collaborative design phase where we gather your exact project requirements. From there, our in-house CNC machinery creates highly detailed molds—capable of capturing even the most intricate architectural profiles. These molds are precision-cut and polished to a mirror finish, ensuring a smooth, flawless final product.

We then mix isocyanate and resin to form high-density polyurethane foam, which expands within the mold to create lightweight, yet incredibly durable exterior cornice moulding. This process allows us to replicate traditional crown molding designs at a fraction of the weight and cost of wood or plaster. Once cured, each piece is removed, inspected for quality, and finished with two coats of industrial-grade primer—making your polyurethane crown molding ready for paint upon delivery. Whether you’re ordering a standard profile or a fully custom design, we ship directly to your jobsite with low lead times to keep your project on track.

What are the benefits of Polyurethane?

Polyurethane crown molding offers the classic look and feel of wood—without any of the drawbacks. Unlike traditional materials, polyurethane won’t rot, crack, split, or attract insects. It’s also significantly lighter than wood or plaster, making it easier to transport, handle, and install on-site. Because it’s cast from high-density foam using precision CNC molds, we can replicate even the most detailed exterior cornice moulding profiles with exceptional accuracy. Our polyurethane products are available with an optional Class A fire rating and are primed and ready for paint upon arrival. Whether you’re working with a standard profile or a fully custom design, polyurethane delivers long-term durability and cost savings—and it’s all backed by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.
